Paul Blart: Mall Cop

This film is absolutely hilarious for a PG rated film. I went to see this film this past Tuesday with a buddy of mine over at the AMC Loews Cineplex in Universal Studios in Orlando. I must say that it was everything I expected from Kevin James.

This film is about a Mall Cop (Kevin James) who tried for the New Jersey State Police Force but failed because of his hypoglycemia (needs sugar) and is stuck being a mall cop and then a group of mall terrorists come to rob the mall and he is the only hope.

For those of you who do not know who Kevin James is, he was the star of the hit comedy sitcom "King of Queens" and starred in both "HITCH" and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry". This is his first film where he is the main star of the film, and he came out on top. He carried his own comedy weight fort this film and was successful. This film was really funny in every way from the beginning to the end of the film. Now yes there were some moments that they could have done a bit better or wasn't necessary for the film, but overall this film is fun and funny fore the whole family.

For those who want to see a good old fashion comedy without the cussing or foul mouth, just plain witty comedy in the style of Abbot & Costello; then this film is for you.

Total rating of this film: 4 out of 5.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

I just got done watching the film "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" over at the Regal Cinemas in Winter Park Village, and I must say that it was pretty good for a prequel.  I usually don't like when prequels get made because the film can tend to be a bit different so to spice up the movie and make it more enjoyable, but that is not the case for this film.  I am a fan of the Underworld films and I think that this one is better than the 2nd film.

The film is about the story of how the leader of the Lycans (werewolves) who is Lucian was a slave to Viktor and the vampires and eventually revolted against them and thus starting the war between Vampires and Lycans.  For those who have seen the 1st film know basically what mainly started the war, but this film goes more in-depth into the lifestyles that Lucian and the other Lycans had to live being slaves and how they were mistreated, and of course the love relationship between Lucian and Viktor's daughter Sonja.

The film was well written, directed, and well done by all accounts.  The best were seeing both Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy back again as the main characters Lucian and Viktor.  The lighting was well done for night setting s to set the mood of the entire film, there were some corny phrases, but what movie doesn't have that at times.  In the end, I think the film was great.  If you are a fan of the Underworld films or of Vampire and werewolves in general, then this movie is for you to watch in the theaters.

Over all rating: 4 out of 5

Gran Torino

What can I say about Gran Torino except that it is a great new film from Clint Eastwood.  He has done another great job in acting and directing his own film.  I saw this film at the Regal Cinemas in Waterford Lakes, and was not disappointed.  For those who don't know, this film is about a typical 1950's white American who hates other races, but yet he lives in a neighborhood that has been overrun now with foreign families.  He hates all of them, but what makes this movie great is that even though he hates other nationalities, he eventually starts liking his new neighbors once he gets to know them.  In a time like this even someone from the old school can have a change of heart.

This movie is a slow drama and filled with racist words through the entire movie.  So if you are someone whom cannot handle too many racist words, then this movie is not for you.  But I promise you that if you are into Clint Eastwood films, you will love this film in every way.  You will not be disappointed.

I give this movie 4 1/2 out of 5.
